Prof. Dr. Aznan Hasan
Chairman, Shariah Advisory Council, Securities Commission Malaysia & Member of Shariah Board AAIOFI
Dr. Aznan Hasan, a Professor of Shariah at IIUM’s Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, holds key positions in Shariah advisory bodies. He serves as Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Council at the Securities Commission, Deputy Chairman of the Shariah Advisory Committee at the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), and is a member of the Shariah Board of AAOIFI, Bahrain, and the Higher Shariah Authority at the Central Bank of UAE. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors at Maybank Islamic Berhad and currently chairs the Shariah Committee at both Maybank Islamic Berhad and Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad. He earned his Shariah degrees from University of al-Azhar, Cairo University, and the University of Wales, Lampeter, United Kingdom.
Prof. Dr. Engku Rabiah Adawiah Engku Ali
Deputy Chairman, Shariah Advisory Council, Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia
Dr. Engku Rabiah Adawiah Engku Ali is a Professor at IIUM’s Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She serves as Deputy Chairman for the Shariah Advisory Council of both Bank Negara Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia. With extensive experience in Islamic finance, she also advises organizations like Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (LOFSA) and the Employees Provident Fund. She’s active in waqf activism, serving on boards like AWQAF Holdings and Khadijah International Waqf Foundation. Dr. Engku Rabiah has received awards for her contributions to Islamic finance and is recognized as a pioneer in the field. She holds degrees from IIUM and a PhD from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom.
Dr. Mohamad Damak
Global Head of Islamic Finance, Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings, Dubai UAE
Mohamed Damak is a Senior Director at S&P Global Ratings in the Financial Services division, where he specializes in financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa. He also serves as the Global Head of Islamic Finance at S&P Global Ratings, leading a global team of Islamic Finance analysts. Prior to rejoining S&P Global Ratings, Mohamed worked as a Principal Credit Risk Officer at the African Development Bank in Tunis. From 2006 to 2010, he was with S&P Global Ratings, covering both conventional and Islamic financial institutions in the Middle East and North Africa. Mohamed holds a PhD in Finance and a Master’s degree in ‘Money, Banking, and Finance’ from the University of Paris 2, Pantheon Assas, and a Master’s degree in Financial Institutions Management from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Tunis.

Mustafa Adil is the Head of Islamic Finance, Data & Analytics at the London Stock Exchange Group. He leads the organization’s Islamic finance business, offering tailored solutions to foster the industry’s growth and depth. Mustafa collaborates with governmental bodies, multilateral organizations, and financial institutions to deliver content, research, consulting, and market engagement services. He also initiates innovative projects to meet the industry’s evolving needs. Before joining Refinitiv, he served as a consultant in Ernst & Young’s Islamic Financial Services team, providing advisory services to leading Islamic financial institutions globally. Mustafa is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and holds a Mathematics degree from Imperial College, London.
Bashar Al Natoor
Global Head of Islamic Finance, Fitch Ratings, UAE
Bashar Al Natoor is the global head of Islamic finance at Fitch Ratings, responsible for coordinating Islamic finance activities across various Fitch teams. With over 19 years of experience in the Islamic finance market, he joined Fitch in 2007. His roles have included overseeing Sukuk criteria, conducting research, and analyzing EMEA issuers. Before Fitch, he held key positions at the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and Arthur Andersen. Al Natoor holds an MSc degree in Banking and Finance from the Arab Academy for Finance and Banking Science and a BS degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Amman. Bashar is also a certified bank examiner (CBA), a certified risk professional (CRP), a Chartered Market Analyst (FAD-CMA) and a Certified Risk Analyst (CRA).
Dr. Abideen Adeyemi Adewale
Acting Assistant Secretary-General (Standard Implementation), IFSB
Dr. Abideen Adeyemi Adewale is the Acting Asst. Secretary General responsible for standards at the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). He joined in April 2018 as Lead Specialist for Research, Publications, and Statistics, managing research, publications, and the flagship IFSB Islamic Financial Services Industry Stability Report. Before IFSB, he spent 18 years in academics, with eight years at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and a decade in Nigeria, including work at a stock-broking firm and as a lecturer at the University of Ilorin. Dr. Adewale holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Finance) from IIUM and degrees from the University of Lagos and University of Ilorin in Nigeria.
Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat
Director Islamic Economy Supporting Ecosystem, National Committee for Islamic Economy & Finance (KNEKS), Indonesia
Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat is the Director of the Islamic Economy Supporting Ecosystem at the National Committee for Islamic Economy and Finance (KNEKS), Republic of Indonesia. He holds a PhD and MBA in Islamic banking and finance from IIUM and a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management from IPB University. Previously, he served as Director of Education and Research at KNKS and was Head of the Business School at UCB. He is also an associate professor at IOU and a member of various working groups and editorial advisory boards. Dr. Hidayat has published numerous research papers in esteemed international journals and serves as the co-editor for the Journal of Islamic Financial Studies.
Dr. Hurriyah El Islamy

Dr. Hurriyah El Islamy is a distinguished Islamic finance advocate, honored with the Best National and Global Islamic Finance Activist/Proponent Award by Bank Indonesia in 2018. She was also the inaugural recipient of the Anugerah Tokoh Alumni, awarded by IIUM. She was Executive Board of Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji Indonesia (Presidential Decree 74/2017). Dr. El Islamy has over two decades of global experience, with roles including Director of Group Head Shariah and Governance and Group Legal – Islamic Banking and Capital Markets at CIMB Group, Director and Head of Legal at Capinnova Investment Bank, and positions at Kuwait Finance House Bahrain. Graduated as the Best Overall LLB student from IIUM. She is recognized for her extensive publications in various fields, including Islamic finance, and has provided advisory services to regulatory bodies and entities across multiple jurisdictions.
Ts. Othman Abdullah

Ts. Othman Abdullah is the Chief Executive Officer, Islamic Finance and Innovative Services at Silverlake Group, a global financial technology and digital economy solutions provider. Othman also doubles up as the CEO of Silverlake Symmetry and Technology Research as well as a consultant for Silverlake Straight Through Banking (STB) System and Silverlake Integrated Banking System (SIBS). In addition to his executive role in Silverlake, Othman sits on the board of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad as an Independent Non-Executive Director. Othman chairs Board IT Committee and a member of Board Audit and Board Risk Committees.
Daeng Termizi

Daeng is the COO and co-founder of Kestrl, an app that helps Muslims achieve their financial goals without compromise. Before this, Daeng built a career as an analyst at the Central Bank of Malaysia, where he specialised in Islamic finance and sustainable/green capital markets. Daeng holds an MBA from the University of Cambridge with a focus on digital transformation and a BA from the University of Exeter. He successfully launched the Kestrl app both as a beta and to the public. Modelled Kestrl’s financial projections for the purpose of fundraising. Fundraised £400k in pre-seed and seed funding rounds through Angel investors and crowdfunding through Seedrs.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ziyaad Mahomed

Assistant Professor Dr Ziyaad Mahomed is the former Associate Dean of E-learning, and Director of Executive Education at INCEIF and is currently Lead Researcher (Shariah) for the Centre of Excellence in Social Finance at INCEIF. He also leads Micra, INCEIF’s e-learning platform. He serves as Chairman of several Shariah boards internationally including HSBC Amanah (Malaysia), Taj Bank (Nigeria) and Iman (Uzbekistan), a bespoke Islamic finance and lifestyle app. He is a respected Shariah advisor in Islamic finance, Islamic social finance and Islamic fintech solutions in Central Asia, the UK and South Africa. He holds a PhD and CIFP from INCEIF, an MBA (South Africa), a BA (Hons) in Business (Finance) (UK) and qualifications in the Islamic Sciences from South Africa and Jordan.
Roslinda Ahmad

Roslinda is currently heading the Islamic crowd funding (P2P) division for Cofundr, one of the 12 Recognised Market Operators registered with the Securities Commission Malaysia.
Previously she was a Director and Head of Product Distribution & Strategy at CIMB Islamic. She played an instrumental role for CIMB in originating the first Sukuk by World Bank, first Sukuk by majority-owned Japanese company, Aeon Credit Service (M), first sukuk by majority-owned UK based corporate, Tesco Stores (M), first sukuk by Singapore based company, City Developments and first CP/MTN & Convertible Sukuk by Khazanah. She also played a pivotal role in advisory for various governments such as Japan Bank for International Corporations (JBIC), Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) from start to finish in the setting-up of Islamic Finance infrastructure in Hong Kong; advising Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Islamic finance framework; advising Thailand’s Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) on setting-up Islamic Capital Market Infra-structure, among others.
She holds an MBA degree from University of Miami, Florida and a Bachelor of Science (Finance) Degree from University Of The Pacific, Stockton, California.
